Joseph Covey Richards, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away November 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lynn Stephen Richards and Lucile Covey Richards. He married his sweetheart, JoAnn Timpson Richards in the Salt Lake Temple on December 18, 1951. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah, where he received a degree in architecture.

Joseph Covey Richards, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away November 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born January 1, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lynn Stephen Richards and Lucile Covey Richards. He married his sweetheart, JoAnn Timpson Richards in the Salt Lake Temple on December 18, 1951. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah, where he received a degree in architecture.
The most important things in Joseph's life were God, family, and his country. He fulfilled a full-time mission for the LDS church in the California Mission. Throughout his life, he held various church positions and faithfully served multiple missions as a senior missionary with his eternal companion, JoAnn, by his side. He was a student and defender of The Constitution of the United States of America and vigorously supported our Founding Fathers. He was a fierce patriot and served his country as an officer in The United States Air Force.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, JoAnn. He is survived by five sons: Spencer (Margaret), Joseph Jr., Scott (Jana), Jonathan (Bridgette) and Daniel (Brandi); 21 grandchildren; and, 23 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 S. Highland Dr, SLC, UT 84106) on Sunday, November 27th and 30 minutes prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Monday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Wasatch Hills LDS chapel (2255 S. Wasatch Drive, SLC, UT 84109). -
